During the elementary school years, we provide students with the foundational building blocks of learning.  Through Literature - a reading comprehension program with special emphasis on phonemic awareness and phonics - Language Arts and Houghton Mifflin Math, children receive quality instructional time in the basics of education.  Students also receive instruction in Science, Social Studies, Bible, Art, Music, PE, Band, Spanish, and Computers.  Our fully stocked library offers children a chance to know and love books.  We give children the confidence to believe they can be successful in school, as well as in life.

FIELD TRIPS
Each grade participates in two field trips during the year to enhance and reinforce curriculum.  

ENRICHMENT COURSES
Physical Education, Choir/Music, Computer (3-6), Spanish, Library, Band (4-6) and Art classes taught by specialized teachers.

SPIRITUAL
Weekly chapels highlight Bible instruction and include a wide variety of special speakers who teach and spiritually challenge students to follow Jesus daily.

KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM 
BCS offers both a half day and full day program, Monday through Friday.  The half day program meets from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  The all-day option meets 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  An extended day option is available beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.

Bethesda's kindergarten curriculum lays the groundwork for our elementary program by helping students develop fundamental verbal and math skills.  We emphasize phonemic awareness, enabling students to sound out and read a wide range of words.
